The neck is made with alnico V magnets and 43 ga PE wire wound to 7.38 for a full tone with a very thin polished Nickle Silver cover. The Bridge is alnico 5's for a big full rounded tone wound with 42GA to 9k. Contacted David on the recommendation of a good friend. Between us we have probably tried most of the off the shelf and more bespoke Tele pickups available and were still looking for that certain 'something'. After a couple of email exchanges I had a set of Specials sent over and they really are 'special'. Neck pickup is beautifully clear and woody, rolling back the tone sends it into that jazzy tone I love. The bridge pickup is pretty bright but still has plenty of bite. Just right for clean picking or dirty rock'n'roll.  The combined tone is, for me, that perfect Cropper/Stax tone I have in my head. Pickups are beautifully made and packaged. Service and quality have been so good that a set of Mr Allen's fine pickups will soon be on their way for my American Stratocaster.
