When it arrived I was intrigued to find that there was a hot tap (around 9K) and a vintage spec tap (around 7K). I installed it into a parts bass (Allparts one piece fat maple neck with a light weight alder '54 style P bass body from Wildwood, relic finish by Mark Jenny). With the vintage tap, the tone is very close to Bobby Vega's '56 P bass, as seen (and heard) on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MsSzAAysns This is the tone that I was aiming at with this project and I am very pleased to have achieved it after only trying 2 different bodies, 3 pickups and 3 bridges (Badass III is way better than the vintage ones)! If you are after true vintage tone, this is the one. It really captures the distinctive tone of the early single coil P basses. The mids are present but not dominant, the lows are solid and the highs are clear, airy and articulate. I am very impressed! Thanks David.
